Skills
I have been an applied statistician since I left Columbia University Graduate School (Math Stat Dept) in 1972. I work primarily for Fortune 500 firms, developing attrition models for Banks, analyzing data for Market Research firms, building data warehouses or doing data mining more and more, or just designing clinical trials. I recently finished a consulting assignment where I developed the data model and the event logic in order to warehouse the HMO claims data acquired by a leading disease management firm.
I have used SAS as a programming tool ever since it became a commercial product. I have trained junior programmers and led teams of SAS programmers on several occasions.
I do desktop publishing with either "WYSIWYG" tools, or "markup languages" like LaTeX and now, HTML.
I am also the President of OPENetwork, a software development firm which specializes in programmers' tools for platforms where DOS boxes are available: DOS, Windows, OS/2 and Linux.
Hobbies
The Brooklyn Go Club !
Mathematical puzzles: for instance, see
The Minesweeper Chetrit Conjecture

In 1998, I gave a series of lectures to 10-year olds in Neil Zwillinger's class where my daughter was attending. I covered an introduction to the game of Go and several advanced math topics like numeric systems, limits, paradoxes, recursion, set theory, and of course, puzzles. check it out! It was impressive to see how much kids liked it, particularly those typically resistant to math.
Teachers
I am very lucky to come into frequent contact with people who are not only masters in their own field, but also wonderful teachers:
Jean Michel for clear rational thinking as only the french can do it.
Daniel Rosenblatt my Gestalt therapist.
Steve Silberblatt for his delightful talks on civil rights.
