NEW YORK GO CENTER--THE IWAMOTO CENTER--323 East 52 Street, #1, New

One of the oldest go clubs in the Western Hemisphere, the Iwamoto
Center combines the New York ("American") Go Club with the group from the
Nippon (Japanese) Club. The club provides a serene and comfortable
environment, in a lovely town house, with three stories available for Go
players of all strengths.
Open every week night (except Monday) after 5 p.m. and
every weekend after 1 p.m..
Playing fee $ 7.00, $ 5.00 for students and family.

THE BROOKLYN GO CLUB--People meet at a different home each Friday
night at 8:00 PM for a pot luck dinner, playing Go, telling stories, and

QUEENS:

KOREAN BADUK CLUB--open 11 A.M.-Midnight, seven days a week: 36-18 Union
Street (a little South of Northern Boulevard), Flushing, N.Y. 11354,
(718) 353-4646.
This place especially caters to the large population of Koreans in
Flushing, Queens. Weaker players (not beginners) can find games and enjoy
themselves, but the presence of powerful amateurs sometimes creates an
exciting and intensly competitive atmosphere. Sammy Park, the owner, will
be very happy to make your acquaintance and arrange a game for you.

WEIQI AT THE CHINESE CULTURAL SERVICE CENTER--seven days a week,
12:00 NOON-6:00 P.M.: 41-61 Kissena Boulevard (northeast corner of
Franklin Ave.), Flushing, New York 11355, (718) 886-3303.
Mostly Chinese retirees, the Go (WeiQi in Chinese) players are approxi-
mately 7 kyu-3 dan AGA. Occasionally, a couple of high-ranked players
will drop in. Admission is free and the Cultural Center usually
provides enough Go sets.
The *smoke-free* space is shared with other people, either reading
magazines or playing Chinese Chess, and it can sometimes get noisy.

The HOBOKEN GO CLUB meets every Monday evening (from September to the
end of June) from 7PM to 11PM on the campus of Stevens Institute of

Run by the very friendly Dae yol Kim, 7 dan.
Rates are $10/day and private lessons are offered, 8/month for $200.
