Ah, GO! ...It takes me back to my wild, imagination-filled,
still half-healthy, impoverished youth - Go! ...

"A Game of SIMPLE Intelligence..." Wild Austrian American

Creative Abnormality, Robert Erich Eder muttered ..."
little realizing that this false but ego-enthused idea
would trap him into many humiliating Go trouncings at
even MY incompetent and inexperienced hand.

Eventually, I prefered an alternate board, however, such
a normal board into which each square has a red diagnonal
deftly drawn in, but starting at Upper Left in the
alternating pattern, row by row, of / diagonal, \ diagonal,
/ diagonal, \ ... across the row, and the next row then
begining (from the left), \ diagonal, / diagonal, etc. ...
each diagonal representing an Extra Link for breathing!

Or a different objective: Army Clusters containing a pregame
designated and unambiguously identified 'score token'.

Every subset of a living army matching the agreed upon
pattern would could as 1 Point.

Those heedless days of American Viet Nam Insanity! 1964-65!

Please propagate the Tried and True 19x19, but remember
that 17x17 was once in flower, and the rules could evolve
if let to do so. Graphite for Black and U-235-Oxide for
for White, on an iridescent sheen solid cast Beryllium
Cobalt Board, anyone?! Directional neutron and gamma
detectors track the 'extra' play! ...

Hi everybody,

Even though I have around NYC for a long time and I do know the existance of Brooklyn Go Club for all that time but I have never been to any one of your gatherings. I used to frequent the Manhattan Club when it was at 49th street and later the Chinese Club in Flushing. I am suprise to read the comment from Cha Cha. Are you the girl from Hong Kong? It has been ages since I last saw you in the subway train back in the early 90's. I am glad you are picking up the old interest again.

Hello, your game of Go, is very intreguing. I enjoyed much the history of Go page, it definately inspired me to start. It seems as though the game of go represents the main basis of mathematical permutation, and combinatorics. I read that your staff had trained the crew of actors on the movie 'Pi,' it payed off well, because the movie was great and your involvment in it made it even more thought provoking. I hope your group of intellectuals never stop thinking of the future of mankind, because mankind will never stop thinking about the future of you. And Newton's 3rd law is always a benefit in all layed-discussions. I enjoy greatly your game, and respect all members who never give up the quest for knowing and understanding the Infinite.

Hi folks,

Am just reading Peter Shotwell's "Go Basics" & he mentions your site so I popped in!

I'm a Brit who lives in Hiroshima. Please check my site at http://www.hirohurl.net. I offer a range of Japanese games on it - mahjong, shogi, hanafuda...

But igo? I guess you can get everything you need in America, but if not, please let me know and I'll do my best to help you out, especially with high quality stones and those meaty Japanese go boards!

Best wishes,

Hirohurl

Hi Jean-Claude,

I don't get to participate in the go club as often as I would like. However, whenever I attend, it is your warmth and good cheer that always makes me feel welcomed, as if I were an old and faithful member. The club is infused with your spirit of openness, engagement, intelligence and kindness. I look forward to the next time I get to see you.

Good luck!

Cliff
